El documental ‘La Primera Dama de la Revolución’ se estrenó el jueves 13 de setiembre en el Instituto de Cervantes en Beijing.

El documental La Primera Dama de la Revolución se trata de la historia de la señora Henrietta Boggs, quien es una norteamericana casada con el señor José ‘Don Pepe’ Figueres, uno de los presidentes más relevantes a lo largo de toda la historia de Costa Rica.

Ella nació el 6 de mayo de 1918 en Carolina, Estados Unidos y es una escritora y periodista. Se fue a visitar a sus tíos durante una vacación de verano del año 1923. Durante su estancia, sus tíos invitaron al señor José Figueres Ferrer a una cena, y entonces se conocieron los dos jóvenes y se enamoraron. Don José Figueres Ferrer pronunció el 1948 un discurso público contra el entonces gobierno y se exilió afuera de Costa Rica durante la guerra civil nacional, después de la cual, doña Henrietta se convirtió la primera dama de Costa Rica. Ella experimentó la gran revolución de Costa Rica y contribuyó al proceso de ofrecer el derecho al voto para las mujeres.

El estreno del documental en el Instituto de Cervantes en Beijing fue un gran éxito, con un logro de dar mejor conocimiento a los que estén interesados a la historia de Costa Rica y al idioma español.

The documentary The First Lady of the Revolution is about the story of Mrs. Henrietta Boggs, who is an American and married Mr. José ‘Don Pepe’ Figueres Ferrer, one of the most relevant presidents throughout the entire history of Costa Rica.

She was born on May 6, 1918 in Carolina, United States and is a writer and journalist. She went to visit her uncles during a summer vacation in 1923. During her stay, her uncles invited Mr. José Figueres Ferrer to a dinner, and then the two young met and fell in love with each other. Mr. José Figueres Ferrer delivered a public speech in 1948 against the then government and was forced into exile outside of Costa Rica during the national civil war, after which Mrs. Henrietta became the first lady of Costa Rica. She experienced the great revolution of Costa Rica and contributed to the process of offering the right to vote for women.

The premiere of the documentary at the Cervantes Institute in Beijing was a great success, giving better knowledge to those who are interested in the history of Costa Rica and the Spanish language.
